"Territories of co-cognition" is a half-day symposium showcasing research from The Bartlett School of Architecture and its network. The event will explore the opportunities and challenges of automation and the application of AI in novel strategies of worldmaking.
This year’s Biennale, "Intelligens. Natural. Artificial. Collective", reflects on the meaning of collective intelligence and its relationship with the built environment by exploring how human and non-human forces interact to shape our habitats. In response, this symposium will explore the opportunities as well as the ethical challenges posed by automation, engaging with its potential as a collective resource by establishing a platform for knowledge exchange and transdisciplinary cross-pollination at the intersection of design practice, urban studies and philosophy.
Current debate on AI is often characterised by an arbitrary separation between ethical and creative concerns. As a result, design disciplines rarely engage with other fields such as philosophy or ethics, and vice versa. This symposium bridges the gap by fostering dialogue between creative and theoretical aspects of AI. Different schools of thought will come together to discuss approaches, research, design outputs and the theoretical frameworks that inform their methodologies.
Speakers include Luciana Parisi, Patricia Reed, Fiona Zisch, Julian Besems, Andrew Porter, Will Cavendish. Curated by Roberto Bottazzi, Ilaria Di Carlo, Annarita Papeschi.
