On September 16, 2020, the President of the European Commission presented the New European Bauhaus (NEB), an ambitious ecological, economic, and cultural project. The initiative will implement the EU's future objectives based on three fundamental pillars: sustainability, inclusiveness, and aesthetics. Conceived with an eminently practical sense, the NEB will demonstrate how sustainable innovation can be translated into tangible and positive experiences in our daily lives.

Within Spain, the ETSAM Madrid School of Architecture at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid is a reference institution in this field. Currently, the teaching programmes and lines of scientific research, seek to build alternative futures in a NEB spirit.

This event consists of a series of short lectures and a colloquium aimed at sharing the different actions and proposals that are carried out in ETSAM. The speakers are experts in a wide array of fields, such as architectural design, urban planning, heritage, sustainable design and gender studies. The purpose is to create synergies with other schools and institutions and to join efforts and ensure that the spirit of the NBE floods the policies of each town, city or region.

This event is aligned with the curatorship of the Spanish Pavilion at the Biennale di Venezia 2023, under the theme Foodscape.
