The workshop "Eco-sign: observing and reproducing the forms of biodiversity" aims to provide teachers and students with a simple method to creatively approach marine biodiversity: critical observation, graphic or paper reproduction, and elaboration of forms in repeated motifs (patterns) become tools to synthesize and build a portfolio made up of wonderful and colorful marine interrelations and coexistence.

The workshop is in collaboration with Ilaria Pittana is an architect, designer, and researcher.

Biographies

Ilaria Pittana is an architect, designer, and researcher. Since 2016 she has been working on the valorization of peculiar elements of Venice and other cities using photography, graphic design, and pattern design. Since 2024, she has been organizing workshops and laboratories for children and young people with the aim of building their own story of reality through the observation, recognition, and reproduction of simple shapes. She has published three books to raise awareness of contemporary Venice: Alfabeto Veneziano and Guida ai Mestieri Veneziani with Anteferma Edizioni, and the illustrated silent book WOW published by Matita Edizioni.
